What is your garage floor surface made of?

Published by Don Hester on

One concern is to have a noncombustible surface in a garage. Here is an example where there was asphalt installed in the garage. Asphalt is allowed by exception in carports but not allowed in garages.

Another issue with asphalt is that it is not structural surface and is susceptible to gas/petroleum products that will cause damage.

Asphalt is softer than concrete and is more susceptible to sinking and rutting. Since asphalt is not structural it is only as good as the compacted materials base under it.
