Wenatchee Home Inspections -Water Issues

As a Home and pest inspector I have to ask “what is a home’s biggest problem?” As a Wenatchee Home Inspections service in Chelan County, Water is the answer.

Water will most likely be the main culprit to many issues found in homes. Excessive moisture leads to rot, infestation, mold, structural damage and many other issues that can render a home almost unlivable.

From a structural pest management perspective water is the number one issue we report on. This includes grading of soil, vegetation next to homes, gutters and downspouts, roof leaks, plumbing leaks and missing vapor barriers. These will usually lead to bigger problems and make the environment more hospitable for insects such as Termites, Ants and Beetles.

Water is essential for life but it is a bad for homes when it is the wrong places. It has amazing properties. Because of these properties it can defy logic at times. A leak can start in one place and end up in a completely different place.

When looking at your home if you spot any moisture issues it is very important to address them quickly. It may also be advisable to hire and qualified inspector to perform periodic inspections of your crawlspace and attic to look for signs of moisture intrusion (how often do we enter these places?). Think of it as a house mechanic giving the home its periodic maintenance review. The money will be well spent and may save you much larger bills later.
