If you are going to Vent, Vent Properly

Vent Termination

Here we have an example of an improper vent termination.

This happened when an addition was added to the home. This plumbing vent did not extend up to the upper roof where the moisture could escape harmlessly to the atmosphere.

Over time this can lead to rot and other moisture issues.

906.1 Roof Termination

Each vent pipe or stack shall extend through its flashing and shall terminate vertically not less than 6 inches (152 mm) above the roof nor less than 1 foot (305 mm) from a vertical surface.

Remember if you are to vent… Vent properly!

If you find any errors or have additional information that would expand on any code, building standards or manufacturer requirements please let me know.
