A leak and a Cut

Published by Don Hester on

Often we see many items during a Home inspection.

A Leak and a Cut

Here is a great example in one photo. We have several issues all grouped together.

First we have a plumbing leak. Small leaks can be a harbinger for for other condition such as wood rot, insects and rodents.

Next, we have a compromised floor joists right under the bath tub. Water weigh about 8 lbs a gallon. With a standard tub you could have 80 to 110 gallons. So that is somewhere between 640 to 880 lbs.

Third, we have galvanized and copper piping connected to each other. This can create galvanic corrosion which can lead to other leaks in the piping system.

If you find any errors or have additional information that would expand on any code, building standards or manufacturer requirements please let me know.
